This acrylic painting was inspired when my good friend Rain posted an amazing photograph of herself wearing this awesome headdress. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to represent this image as a painting. I asked her for permission and a high resolution copy of the photograph which she then granted and supplied. I thanked her and got to work. A great amount of work it was and well worth it. In the vast scope of all the photographs that I see there are a rare few that meet all of my criteria for a photoreal representation painting and this one does.
Rain is an incredibly talented artist. Not only does she produce amazing paintings and tattoos but she also makes beautiful headdresses, such as the one she is wearing in this image. I found the variety in it's detail to be extraordinary in itself and the way she embodies it is remarkable. Ultimately, I find myself drawn in to the perfection and placement of her facepaint design and the way it compliments her visible eye and the way it draws me in. The skintone is treated as that of a living porcelain doll, representitive of the ethereal perfection and beauty of this artist and her artwork.
